About Camilla
I offer therapy based on your individual needs and current situation. I have experience with depression, anxiety, stress, grief, and life crises, among other things – with a particular interest and experience in parents who have lost their child during pregnancy and later.
In our conversations, I emphasize creating a safe and trusting space where there is room for your whole self – with all the accompanying emotions such as grief, fear, love, guilt, and anger.
Many people find that simply putting words to what is difficult – and not having to face it alone – can be a relief. Together, we can work to create greater understanding, find new ways to handle challenges, and slowly but surely regain your footing.
Values
One of the most important things for me is that you feel seen – not judged or analyzed from a distance, but met as the person you are. I know it can take courage to reach out, and therefore, I prioritize creating a calm and safe space where you can relax a little.
In our conversations, there is room for everything. What hurts, what is difficult to understand, and what might be hard to say out loud – but also what still holds hope, love, or longing. We start with what is most pressing for you and proceed at a pace that suits you.
Approach
When you come to me, I meet you first and foremost as the person you are – not as a problem to be “solved.” I believe that we are all different. Therefore, I always adapt my approach to you and your situation. Sometimes you might need concrete tools, other times to feel more connected to yourself or to articulate something that may be difficult, or to find new ways to cope with what cannot be changed. Together, we will figure out what makes sense in your situation.
In my work, I draw on various evidence-based therapeutic approaches and integrate methods from, among others, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy – but always with a focus on it being useful and meaningful for you.
Experience
Throughout most of my career, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults – primarily as a psychologist, but also as an educator and leader. I have experience working with adults in psychiatry and from PPR (Pedagogical Psychological Counseling), where I worked with children, adolescents, and families. Additionally, I am a volunteer grief group leader at the Danish Center for Families and Grief.
Common to my work is meeting people in vulnerable and life-changing situations. I have particularly worked with grief, crises, and the emotional reactions that can follow.
I also have a background as an actress, which I find gives me a special awareness of what can be difficult to put into words – and an openness to different ways of expressing oneself.
Personally, I am married and a mother of 2 toddlers and 1 school-aged child.
