About Ditte

I offer individual therapy for adults and work with a wide range of themes and issues.

These typically involve stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Additionally, I work with the challenges that often accompany late-diagnosed ADHD/ADD—both settling into and understanding a new diagnosis, and gaining concrete strategies for a more manageable daily life.

At the same time, I draw on more than 20 years of experience in the fields of binge eating, weight loss, and shopping addiction.

I also have a special interest in working with expats. I lived abroad for 12 years with my husband and our three children and therefore know expat life from the inside—the new and exciting aspects, but also the longing, the rootlessness, and the process of finding one’s footing in a new daily routine, including how roles between spouses can shift along the way. I bring that insight with me when I meet clients in similar situations.

In my work, I take my starting point in either a cognitive or a metacognitive framework, and together we determine which approach best suits you and what you wish to achieve. You help choose the direction.

Common to it all is that facing these things alone can feel heavy and overwhelming. That is exactly what you no longer have to do.

Values

When you sit down with me, it is important to me that you find yourself in a safe, informal, and relaxed environment. You will be met with empathy and acceptance—but also with sincere support in our journey toward a different place together.

For me, therapy is about you quickly feeling a real change in your daily life. You should leave our sessions with concrete tools in hand, so you know exactly what you can do to break the patterns that are holding you back.

Approach

My approach is action-oriented and based on scientifically documented methods.

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) as a foundation, we look at the thought and behavior patterns that are currently in the way and work purposefully to give you better strategies.

The process is always shaped by you and your situation—whether you need a short, focused course of treatment or deeper work with trauma, where I utilize metacognitive treatment, among other methods.

Experience

With more than 20 years of experience as a psychologist, I have worked in many different contexts. My path has led me through PPR (Educational Psychological Counseling) and a private psychiatric hospital, and for a number of years, I have run my own practice—both in Denmark and from abroad.

Along the way, I have also conducted specialized groups—both anxiety groups and courses for people struggling with binge eating—an experience that gives me solid professional expertise in both areas.
